Marian R. Govednik (nee Mutz)
Age 90 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center.
Born September 8, 1930 in Joliet, Marian Rose was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Solante) Mutz. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Central High School with the class of 1948. Marian was a devoted catholic and longtime parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. She volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital and worked various clerical jobs, but her main job was taking care of her family and raising her two boys. Marian was always involved with her son’s activities. Whether it was cub scouts or little league. She was an accomplished accordion player and appeared on television a handful of times, playing at various events. In her free time, Marian enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting and cooking. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her club or with various friend groups and in her later years, looked forward to playing the penny slots. Marian will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two sons: Albert Joseph (Linda Lou) Govednik and Jeffrey W. (Stacey R.) Govednik.
Marian is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Albert Frank Govednik, who passed away on October 28, 2017, and brother: Raymond (survived by Nancy) Mutz.
Per Marian’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
A private service will be held at a later date and Marian will be laid to rest with her husband in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
