Maria J. (Koren) Dolynka

Maria J. Dolynka (nee Koren), age 81, entered into eternal life on Sunday, April 24, 2016 with her loving son, Frank, by her side.

Maria passed away peacefully at St. Francis at St. Andrews Place Nursing Home in Eureka, MO, where she resided for a very short period of time.  Maria previously prospered for 15 years at her lakeside cottage at the Cape Albeon Retirement Community in Valley Park, MO.   Maria resided in the Joliet, IL, area beginning in 1961 where she was an active member and supporter of the Catholic and Slovenian communities in the Joliet area including the Slovenian Catholic Center in Lemont, IL. Maria was a retired cosmetologist and active artist in her retirement.

Maria is survived by her loving son, Frank J. Dolynka; sisters, Anica, Evanca; and brother, Frank, who all reside in Slovenia or Croatia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in those countries.  Also, she is survived by relatives, Stefie, Vera, John and Mike Kochan and their family in the San Francisco, CA, area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dolynka; sister, Barbica; and parents, Alojz and Barbara (nee Zibret) Koren.

Special thanks to Frank and Lillian Cepon family, lifelong family friends, who were instrumental in assisting in coordinating and making Maria’s final arrangements.

Funeral services for Maria will begin on Friday, April 29, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Chapel.

There will be no services held at Tezak Funeral Home.
