Margaret Popek, age 98 of Joliet, passed away on September 18, 2011
Survived by her son, Robert J. (Phyllis) Popek, daughter, Charlene Popek Kanter and her husband Sanford Kanter, grandchildren Christine (Michael) Burton, Michael (Renee) Popek, Paul Popek, and Andrew Popek, her great-grandchildren, Alex and Emily Burton, and Morgan, Delaney and Evan Popek. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Cele (late Frank) Popek and Jean (late Andrew)Yuvan.
Preceded by her husband Albert (1994), her parents John and Pauline (nee Cowel) Kochevar, her brother Raymond (late Bernedette ""Bunny) Kochevar, and her brother-in-law William (late Clara) Popek.
Margaret was a member of St. Genevieve Lodge of KSKJ. As a young woman, she was one of the ""Ladies of the Lanes"" that bowled every Monday. Prior to her marriage, she worked downtown at The Boston Store. She enjoyed her family and friends at many parties at her home and the river. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Margaret"s memory may be made to the charity of the donor"s choice.
A Celebration of Margaret"s life will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011with a service at the funeral home at 9:30 AM. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will follow the service from 10:00 AM until 11:30AM
