Margaret M. (Smolkovich) Kauzlaric

Margaret Kauzlaric (nee Smolkovich) of Joliet went peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday January 29, 2016.

Beloved mother of Robert (Judy) Kauzlaric, Sharon (Dan) Hodgeman, and Sandra (Robert) Steller. Beloved Grandmother of Aaron (Paula) Feit, Christopher Kauzlaric, Kevin Kauzlaric, Jamie (Fiancé Jillian Ryan) Prodehl, Laurie Kauzlaric, Brett (Collin) Steller, Nicole (Fiancé Patrick McNamara) Steller, and Jace (Fiancé Agata Dorsz) Steller. Great-Grandmother of Tyler, Peyton, Eli, Emma, Hayden, and Blayke. Loving sister of Thomas (Nina) Smolkovich, Anna Lutgen, Agnes Muren, Josephine Sepich, John (Diane) Smolkovich, and Rose (Joe) Ahern. She will also be missed by her numerous nieces and nephews.

Reunited in heaven with her husband, Robert A. Kauzlaric, her parents Ignac and Anna (nee Munich) Smolkovich, her brothers George, Carl, Daniel, and Edward Smolkovich.

Born in Essex, IL on her family farm, Margaret greatly valued hard work. She worked for many years at IL Bell, Joliet Arsenal, and retired from Argonne National Laboratory. She loved polka music, bowling, dancing, flowers, gardening, and was a wonderful cook. She also loved listening to her husband play the accordion.  She had a loving and dedicated heart and willingly shared it with her family and friends.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers or a donation, memorials in her name can be made to the charity of your choice,

A Celebration of Margaret’s life will begin on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of chapel prayers at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
