Lynn Ann Turnbull of Joliet, age 64, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet on February 18, 2025 after a devastatingly brief illness, with her loving family by her side. Lynn was born in Joliet to her parents Peter and Josephine (nee Delach) Balma on October 6, 1960.
Lynn spent forty-one years of her life with her soulmate Michael. Together, they built a wonderful life full of love and respect for each other and their extended families. She retired from her position with the Illinois Department of Corrections, where she ensured the safety of those in her care with compassion and kindness, after twenty-five years of service. She was an avid dog lover and gave her whole heart to their many fur babies over the decades. She loved to crochet in her free time, and gave away many of her pieces to those she loved so dearly. She enjoyed cooking throughout her life and was an excellent baker, especially around the holidays. Lynn was a passionate fan of Nascar racing, attended a race at the historic Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama along with many races at the Chicagoland Speedway, and enjoyed visiting the warmth of Florida with her friends and family. While her family will miss her dearly, they will always carry her memory with them. Recollections of her comforting smile, effortless beauty, and kind soul will help to lift them up as they work through the challenges of carrying on without her immediate presence.
She was preceded in death by her father Peter; her brother Ron Balma; her father-in-law Charles Turnbull; and her mother-in-law Loretta Turnbull (nee Devine).
Lynn is survived by her loving husband of forty-one years Michael Turnbull; her mother Josephine Balma; her brother David Balma; brothers-in-law Timothy Turnbull, James (Collette) Turnbull, Patrick Turnbull and Thomas Turnbull; sisters-in-law Lorraine Turnbull and Margaret Slavik; as well as her former sister-in-law Jennifer Turnbull; her nieces Lauren Slavik and Jordan Turnbull; her nephews David and Mark Turnbull; and her grandnephews Niko and Danny.
