Luella I. (nee Smith) Prodehl-Shiffer "Grandma Louie"

Age 95, passed away peacefully, Friday, August 16, 2013 with her loving family by her side.

Luella is survived by her brother, Kenneth Smith; sister-in-law, Josephine Smith; daughters, Susanne (nee Prodehl (Jim) Revels) (Al) Forst, Mercia (nee Prodehl) (Ron) Vironda, Sharon (nee Shiffer) (the late Tom) Grimes; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Shiffer; grandchildren, Melody (nee Revels) (Geiss) Roberts, James Revels, Gina (nee Vironda) (Michael) Izzarelli, Ronald John (Jill) and Robert (Kirsten) Vironda, Damon (Erin) Shiffer, Erin (nee Shiffer) (Leroy) Boaden, Marti (Cory) Shiffer, Renee Stone, Zach Revels, and Ginger Munson; great-grandchildren, Joshua (Linsey) and Brandon Geiss, Brandon and Angelo Izzarelli, Olivia Vironda, Payton, David John, and Ella Shiffer, Rebecca Gilmore, Brady Boaden, Devon Shiffer, and Lennon Killbreagh,; great-great-grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, and Ryan Geiss; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

Preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Prodehl and Willis Shiffer; son, David Shiffer; parents, James and Frances Smith; sister, Marion Smith-Koerner; brothers, Elmer and Lloyd (Smith).

Luella's purpose in life was to teach the world how to love and be loved. It is the treasure that she gave everyone. She leaves us with three kisses, "I love you."

Donations may be made in Luella's name to March of Dimes or Will County Humane Society.

A Celebration of Luella I. Shiffer's life will begin on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, then moving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, then moving in procession to Woodlawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Monday, August 19, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet.
