Louis J. Sylvester

Louis J. Sylvester, “Lou,” age 72, of Joliet, IL passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

Lou was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Torgerson) for 25 years; father of Jim (Rachel) Sylvester, Michelle Carpenter and Kim Churnovic; as well as step-father to Carrie Hale, Kimberly Gioiosa; grandfather to Jimmy, Jase, Finley, Hailey, Amanda, Carissa, Brad and Christopher.

Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur (Ann nee Noe) Sylvester; brother, Arthur; sister, Celena; stepson, Warren; and grandson, Kevin.

Lou was a proud United States Marine Corp Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years as a concrete laborer for Modern Builders and retired in 2008. His favorite past times were watching westerns, listening to music, playing cards with Nancy and always enjoyed when the grand kids would come to visit.

Per Lou’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
