Louis Michael “Louie” Mau, age 48, entered eternal life on Monday, September 23, 2024. 

Louie is survived by his Dad, Charlie Mau; son, Dylan Mau; daughter, Leila Mau; brothers, Mike (Angela) and Josh (JoEllen) Mau; nephews, Patrick Augustine, Eli Mau, Logan Mau, Abby Lewandowski, Blake Lewandowski, Cara Lewandowski, William Blankenship, Daniel Blankenship; and former wife, Laura (Dan) Rush. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his mother, Cindy Mau (nee Colella); former mother and father in-law, Mary Kay Schmitt (nee Smolich) and Bill Schmitt.

Louie found immense joy in spending time with his family and friends, the greatest satisfaction from his role as a father. He took great pride in attending his children's activities, including their baseball games, Boy Scout meetings, softball games, ice skating shows, school functions, and award ceremonies. His commitment to family was evident in everything he did, showcasing his unwavering support and encouragement.

In addition to his family life, Louie enjoyed various outdoor activities, including fishing and camping. He was known for his handy skills, often taking on projects that involved fixing cars and other projects. His time spent in nature was a reflection of his love for the outdoors and a reminder of the serene moments he cherished. His connection with the West Side Knights of Columbus Council #382 was significant, becoming Grand Knight from 2011-2013, where he took an active role in organizing events such as bean bag tournaments, family picnics, and exciting outings to hockey and baseball games.

Louie Graduated from Minooka Community High School class of 1994. His career involved operating his own repair and painting business, for several years, an endeavor that brought him much pride. He was employed at Joliet Equipment in the early 2000s and subsequently worked for Graybar Electric. Later he worked for Eagle Packaging and most recently, he enjoyed his position at Thornton’s in Romeoville.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.

A celebration of Louis' life will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet with a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. A memorial service will be held the following day, Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Louie M. Mau will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him.
