Louis R. Glavan
Age 83 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Lightways Hospice Care in Joliet, surrounded by family.
Born August 1, 1939, in Joliet, Lou was a son to the late Louis and Ann (Kirincic) Glavan. He was raised and educated in Joliet and attended St. Mary’s Nativity grade school and Joliet Catholic High School. Lou graduated from St. Benedict University in Atchison, Kansas, in 1961 with a degree in business. He worked as an agent for Allstate Insurance for over 35 years.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Ann, and his brother: Jim.
He is survived by his wife: Darra (Steffes); his three sons: Louis (Jill Cemeno), Tom (Ashleigh Soloff), and Mike (Kathleen Kleiman); five grandchildren: Jake (Jamie Harvatt), Ally Cole (Bill), Tom, Ann, and Michael; and three great-grandchildren: Hayden, Lucas, and Harrison Cole, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Per Lou’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation in the Nativity Room at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N Broadway in Joliet, on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when the Mass of Christian Burial will begin in the church sanctuary. A private interment will be held at a later date and Lou will be laid to rest at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery in Crest Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Lou’s name to School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King, 13900 Main St., Lemont Illinois, 60439, or Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois, 60435.
