Lillian E. (Zelko) Stefanich

Lillian E. (nee Zelko) Stefanich, age 89, at rest on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Lillian is survived by her beloved sons, John (Pam) Stefanich, Paul Stefanich and Dave (Tara) Stefanich; grandchildren, Stephanie Eggman, Tiffany (Michael Craig) Stefanich, Michelle (Edgar) Jones, Sophia (Brandon Davidson) Alonzo, Zachary Stefanich, Melissa Grillo and Olivia Wallow; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Logan Eggman and Tristan Stefanich; siblings, Edmund (Donna) Zelko and Marion (the late Mark) Schoener; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Curly” Stefanich (1987) and parents, John and Anna Zelko.

Lillian was a lifelong resident of Joliet, IL. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Lillian was a member of the Slovenian Union of America, K.S.K.J, St. Joseph Choir and Slovenska Pesem Choir. She was a devoted mother and very proud of her three boys. Lillian dedicated 15 years at Illinois Bell, then later went on to work at Central Medical Laboratories as a phlebotomist and retired at 65. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Rock Run, as well as her longtime neighbors, the Brownings.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lillian’s name may be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church.

A celebration of Lillian’s life will begin on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL).
