Leonard S. Prieboy Sr.

August 5, 1949 — August 26, 2024

Leonard Stephen Prieboy Sr., 75, passed away Monday August 26, 2024 with his two daughters by his side.

He was born to Stephen J. Prieboy and Ann Prieboy (nee Vidican) on August 5, 1949 in Joliet, IL. Leonard is survived by the “love of his life” of 56 years, Rose (nee Egger). He was the father of Leonard Jr. (Jennifer) Prieboy, Angela (Jeramie) Hass, and Amy (Rudolph Jr.) Bohland. He will also be immensely missed by his grandchildren Madelynn, Aiden, Rudolph III, Lucas and Leonard.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Douglas Prieboy and his grandson Leonard Prieboy III.

Leonard was a lifelong resident of Joliet. He served his country in the Vietnam war in the United States Army. He also later was a reservist for the United States Marine Corp. He was a hardworking and family-oriented man. He worked for the City of Joliet for 34 years, ending his career as the Foreman for the Water Dept. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St Anthony's Parish in Joliet. Despite his many responsibilities, Leonard always made time for his wife and children. Leonard was a selfless man, always helping others. He did not like to be the center of attention; yet, his big personality and ability to find humor in the most mundane life circumstances made him unforgettable. He has had a lasting impact on all that knew him. He enjoyed antique cars, fishing and golf, though his favorite thing was simply being with his family. Spending time with his wife, whom he affectionately called “Rosa” was his utmost favorite thing and the family dinner on Sunday was a true highlight for him every week.

Per Leonard’s wishes cremation has been accorded and had specific instructions to not have a funeral or wake. His family will have a private mass for him at a later date.
