Lena R. (Raineri) Samusevich

Lena R. Samusevich, age 91, passed away peacefully Monday, September 4, 2017 with her loving family by her side.

Lena is survived by her loving sons, Alex (Mary) Samusevich and Robert Samusevich; nieces, nephews; dear friend, Gloria Hritz; many friends and “adopted” grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Alex Samusevich; parents, James and Louise (nee Giannoni) Raineri; siblings, Minnie (Jake) Lorenc, John (Mary) Raineri and Tony in infancy.

Lena enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting, reading and volunteering. When Dad was alive, they enjoyed gardening, traveling, bus tours and cruises. Lena volunteered at the Rialto Theater for 34 years, at St. Joseph Hospital, and St. Anne’s Pancake Breakfast for many years. Lena enjoyed belonging to clubs and participated in the Senior Services of Will County, Young Timers, Paulites, and TOPS in Shorewood. We will always remember Mom for her selflessness, determination and hard work. She worked at the Arsenal in Joliet during the Viet Nam War and at Osco for 20 years.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Home Dialysis Services and Providence Life Services for all their help and support.

A celebration of Lena’s life will begin on Friday, September 8, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. then processing to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL).
