Lawrence E. Thontlin Sr.
Age 86. Lawrence was born in Elwood, IL and lived in Joliet most of his life. Passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home due to a lingering illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Ethel (Bridge) Thontlin and brother Merle Thontlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 A�?A�A½ years Berniece (Adams) Thontlin; daughters Judith L. Thontlin of Joliet and Patricia (Ron) Olsen of Channahon; son Lawrence E. (Pam) Thontlin of Frankfort; four grandchildren Marlana (Lorenzo) Benitez, Ron (Melanie) Olsen, Tom Olsen, Brandon Thontlin; five great-grandchildren and sister Mary L. Thontlin. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a purple heart for his wounds. He was a lifetime member of the Cantigny Post VFW # 367. He had worked for the EJ&E Railroad and the Joliet Township East and Central High Schools before he retired in 1982. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sunny Hill Nursing Home would be greatly appreciated.
A Chapel Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be on Thursday beginning at 4:00 PM until the time of the service. A Prayer Service will begin at 9:30 AM on Friday followed by an inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
