Lawrence C. Beatty Jr.
Age 73 at rest Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Resided in Joliet most of his life, but was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He was a high school State Champion in track, which earned him the name ""Crazy Legs Beatty"". He will be remembered for his passion for football and basketball. He served in the Navy during the early 1950's. He was employed by Local 150 as a crane operator for nearly 30 years. After retiring, he owned and operated an ice cream vending business.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence C. Beatty Sr; his mother, Mary Jane McCracken; and his son, Richard Conn.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Cassidy) Beatty; and his children, Mark and James Beatty of Johnstown, Ohio, Michael (Julie) Conn of Grandview, MO, Rhonda (James) Clark of Bothell, WA, Suzanne (Jeff) Fritz of Coal City, Mark Conn of Kansas City, MO, Roxanne Carnes of Wilmington and Angelique (Scott) Bergeson of Joliet; and 11 grandchildren.
Private family services were held. Interment Mt. St. Patrick Cemetery in Wilton Center, IL.
