Lawrence Van Allen Jr., age 78, at rest on Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jo Ann (nee Sartori) Van Allen; children, Julie A. (David) Wiedmeyer; grandchildren, David A. (Kelly) Wiedmeyer Jr., Zachary L. Wiedmeyer and Gianna N. Wiedmeyer; great-grandson, Ryder A. Wiedmeyer; sisters, Charlotte (Scott) Derenzo, Joan Ann (Ron)Warnell, Louise Carol Piotis, Mary Agnes Van Allen and Dolores Estell Patterson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Louise Van Allen; brother, Martin (Mary Theresa) Van Allen.

Lawrence was born and raised in Rockdale, IL. He retired from ICG after 37 years of dedicated service. Lawrence's grandchildren were the light of his life and he enjoyed spending time with them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dwight Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care for the wonderful comfort and care provided to Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lawrence's name to the Will County Humane Society, 24109 W Seil Rd, Shorewood, IL 60404 would be appreciated.

A celebration of Lawrence's life will begin on Thursday, April 9, 2015 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 2-4 p.m. Per Lawrence's wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be held privately at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
