Khamta Keoborakot, 80, of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:30 AM, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Laos in 1944, Khamta was the eldest of six siblings: Phomma, Soumda, Thavone, Phonesavanh, and Vanevisay. Khamta married Dy, and together they raised seven children: Phaymany, Sisouvanh, Saengphachanh, Souksavanh, and three children who preceded her in death. Khamta and Dy were also blessed with 12 grandchildren: Angela, Michelle, Nina, Nikki, Korben, Ryan, Vicky, Lana, Danny, Rachel, Annie, Xay, as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Declan and Elias. Dy passed away at home surrounded by family in 2009.
Khamta and her family arrived to the United States in 1987. She was a hardworking woman, who devoted herself to her family and loved ones. She was known for her strong and independent spirit, and found peace and comfort in spending time with friends and at the temple. Her warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Khamta's life will be held on Saturday, March 15,2025 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet,IL
