Kevin James Clendening
Age 28 of Joliet and formerly of Naperville, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Born June 4, 1992 in Hinsdale, Kevin James was a son of James and Lynette (Castner) Clendening. He was raised and educated in Naperville and graduated from Neuqua Valley High School with the class of 2010. Kevin attended Lewis University and received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He went on to proudly serve with the Joliet Police Department and received the 2019 officer of the year award for his dedicated service. In March of 2012 Kevin met the love of his life, Kristina Kent, and on October 13, 2018 they were happily married in Carol Stream.
In his free time, Kevin loved spending time outdoors with his dog, Tank. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Kevin also loved bringing family and friends together. Whether he was cooking, grilling or just hanging out, he always made sure you were having a good time and were taken care of. Kevin dedicated his life to helping others when he was on duty and off. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife: Kristina; parents: James and Lynette Clendening; brother: Michael Clendening; mother and father-in-law: George and Linda Kent; brothers-in-law: Mike (Melissa) Kent and Joe (Claire) Kent; nieces and nephews: Joseph, Michael, Taylor, Brianna, Andrew, Abigail, Lucas and Daniel; uncle: Scott (Lisa) Clendening; aunt: Dawn Kostal, and his canine son: Tank.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Kenard and Jean Castner; paternal grandparents: Peter and June Clendening, and uncles: Michael Castner and William Kostal.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a private funeral service to follow. The funeral service will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be livestreamed for those that would like to attend remotely. Due to Covid-19 guidelines masks and social distancing practices are required and a capacity of ten guests will be allowed into the chapel to pay their respects at a time. The funeral home staff will be assisting the family to make sure all safety requirements are being followed.
