Kenneth W. Sefcik, age 61, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 6, 2013, with his loving family by his side.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Kathleen (nee Kennelly) Sefcik; two daughters Stacey (Nathan) Schmidt and Allison Sefcik; two grandchildren Ryan and Kelsey Schmidt; his mother Gloria Sefcik; his sister Nancy (Joe) Rice; two aunts Josephine (John) Olivero and Lorraine (late Fred) Boseo; two uncles Seddy (Frances) Sefcik and Donald (Kathleen) Sefcik; numerous cousins and in-laws also survive.
Preceded in death by his father Emil Sefcik; his granddaughter Alaina Schmidt; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ken was born and raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet West High School. He earned his BachelorA�??s Degree from Western Illinois University in Business Education. Ken obtained his MBA from Governors State University. He taught Business at Carl Sandburg High School and retired after 35 years of service. As a devout Catholic, KenA�??s faith was very important to him. He exemplified his faith by always putting others before himself. Ken was always intuitive about the needs of others and went above and beyond anyoneA�??s expectations. He was a devoted caretaker to his beloved parents. Ken will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to be used according to KenA�??s wishes.
Funeral services for Ken will begin on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with prayers in the funeral home chapel, and then moving in procession to St. MaryA�??s Catholic Church in Mokena for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will be held privately. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home.
