Kay Frances Donahue

At rest on Sunday, December 7, 2008, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Survived by her brothers, Thomas J. Donahue of Ottawa, IL., and Michael J. (Carrie L.) Donahue of Hawthorn Woods, IL.; niece and nephews, Susan (Curt) Read of Plano, IL., Thomas (Jenny) Donahue of Sandwich, IL., and Robert (Tara) Donahue of Littleton, CO.; great-nieces Kendra Donahue, Kaylee Read, and Grace Donahue; and goddaughter, Jordan Harris. Also survived by many loving friends and her beloved cat Olivia. Preceded in death by her parents, Thomas M. Donahue (1980) and Frances C. Donahue (2000). Kay was born on May 20, 1949, in Ottawa, IL. She was a dedicated and loving teacher in the Joliet Public Schools, District 86 for 38 years. Kay taught at Eliza Kelly, Sandburg, and Taft Schools. She was an active member of the American Federation of Teachers, Local 604 for 38 years. She served as Treasurer of the Joliet Elementary Teachers Council 86 for the past 28 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society and Joliet Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 337 S. Ottawa St. Joliet, IL 60436 at 11:00 AM with Father Raymond Lescher officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will also be at the church beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass.
