Katie Munchalfen

Age 41 of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Born October 8, 1982 in Joliet, Katie was a daughter of Lori (nee Cerovac) Pichon and William Munchalfen. She graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 2001 and also attended cosmetology school. Following cosmetology school Katie worked in sales for Arnie’s Auto Body and Supply in Joliet for over 20 years.

Katie was an artistic, loyal, selfless, beautiful soul who made friends with everyone she encountered. She was also an animal advocate and lover. She would have taken care of them all if she could. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family at the Area #1 Outdoor Club in Coal City, where she could be found at the shooting range with her dad or swimming with her brother, mainly to prove that she was faster than him. Katie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but never forgotten.

She is survived by her mother: Lori (John) Pichon; father: William Munchalfen (Fern Jadron); brother: Nicholas (Patti) Munchalfen; sister: Tricia Munchalfen; step-dad: Dale Gilbertson, and her dear close friends: Roger and Hannah Flint, Andy Vota and Carli McConaughy.

Katie was preceded in death by her sister: Danielle Munchalfen who passed away in 1995; maternal grandparents: John and Marilyn Cerovac, and paternal grandparents: Arnold and Mary Munchalfen.

Per Katie's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until time of memorial service which will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Katie’s name to the family for their distribution.
