Katherine Pearl Foster (nee Lorigan) ""Kate"" Age 83, passed away January 26, 2009. Born on August 2, 1925 in Applewold, PA to the late George Thomas and Pearl Irene (Rupert) Lorigan. Katherine has lived in Joliet for the past 51 years where her and her late husband James A. Foster raised their family. Katherine grew up in Kittanning, PA, which she always called ""home."" She was affectionately known as Katherine, Kate, Sis, Mom and Nana. She devoted her life to her family and no one was a stranger in her home. She was there not only for her children but also their friends. She was a ""Mom"" to all who came to know her. Katherine was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Patrick ""Jake"" and Elizabeth Lorigan; grandson, Walter E. Nichols; her mother, Mary Alice; brothers, Gerald ""Rocky"", Thomas, Dennis ""Logan""; sister, Lynne Lamison; and her favorite brother-in-law, Charles ""Pete"" Lamison. She leaves to cherish her memories always, her sons, Charles (Rose) Gilbert, and James A. Foster of Joliet; daughters, Charlotte (William) Heitz of McLeansboro, IL; Carol Gilbert, Pamela Wietting (Michael West, fiance) of Joliet and Kathy (Stephen) Cook of Channahon, IL; grand children, William (Debbie) Heitz, Adelaide ""Tutti"" (Dale) Wiess, Kimberly (Larry) McWhorter, Nick (Julie) Nichols, Todd (Pam) Gilbert, Tamera (Robert) Munch, Kayla and Patricia Cook, Courtney and Shawn West. Great grandchildren Willie and Delaney Heitz, Ryan and Summer Weiss, David Smush; Jason, Tyler and Zachery Slagle; Jordan Nichols; Kylie Konrad; Claire, Sidney, Maxwell Munch; and one great, great granddaughter. Sister, Marcy (Jack) Patton; brothers, Daniel (Joanne); Larry ""Stretch"" (Carol) Lorigan; Jerry (Elese) Lorigan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed life to its fullest and loved to sit in her backyard with her companions Bandit and Sammy and a good family friend, Jim Blackburn and watch the sunset. Special thanks to her caregiver, Beth Musser and Chaplain Christine Vanderbilt from Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.

Chapel services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:am, Fr. Lloyd Bowden officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 8:pm
