Katherine Ancel (nee Vonch)

Age 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of December 20, 2013, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, IL.

Katherine is survived by her beloved children, Denis (Maryann) Ancel and Deborah Nichols; grandchildren, Amy and Brian Ancel; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Chloe and Emily Miller; special niece, Sandy (Smolich) Burla; special nephews, Peter and David (Nancy) Skroko. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive on both sides on the Ancel and Vonch families.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, George J. Ancel; parents, Charles J. and Caroline A. (nee Latak) Vonch; siblings, Marian (in infancy), Carey (Bazaar) Caldwell, Ann Howard, Ceil Aldeen, Joseph Vonch, John Vonch, Agnes Skroko, Margaret Lipinski and Sophie Smolich; and one special niece, Anna Mae (Howard) Didisiderio.

Special thanks to the Franciscan Sisters and their loving, caring, and dedicated staff, who made Katherine‘s residency at OLA peaceful, happy and enjoyable. She loved them and they loved her.

A celebration of Katherine's life will begin on Saturday, January 11, 2014 with a visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery. Per Katherine's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or services held at the funeral home.
