Karen C. Schmidberger
July 28, 1942 — February 19, 2014
Karen C. Schmidberger (nee Johnson), Age 71, entered eternal life on Wednesday, Febraury 19, 2014 with her loving family by her side.
Karen is survived by her beloved of 52 years, Louis D. Schmidberger; cherished son, Donald Schmidberger; dear brother, Robert Johnson of Iowa; uncles, Bob Rys and Fred Koenig; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Dorothy (nee Kelty) Johnson.
Karen was a lover of animals. She adored her pets Zuzu, Bailey, and Hoda. She was also the author of the children's book, "Hobo A Very Special Cat." Karen loved going with her family to see concerts at the Rialto. She lived her life to the fullest and shared her love with everyone that she met.
Donations may be made in Karen's name to the Will County Humane Society in Shorewood or to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
A celebration of Karen's life will begin on Monday, February 24, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel beginning at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL.
