Karen J. (Chinderle) Lowry

September 16, 1948 — November 28, 2015

Karen J. Lowry (nee Chinderle), age 67, at rest on Saturday, November 28, 2015 with her loving family by her side.

Karen is survived by her loving children, Jennifer (Thomas) Stumo, Scott Lowry and Jacquelyn Lowry; grandchildren, Tyler, Andrew and Megan Stumo; loving sister, Judy (Jeff) Hauge; nieces, Kristi and Katie Hauge; great-nieces, Kayla Williams and Eden Batt; and her beloved grand dog, Duder.

Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Betty Chinderle; nephew, Kevin Hauge; Alfred “Skip” Lowry.

Karen was a lifelong resident of Joliet. She attended St. John the Baptist Grade School, St. Francis Academy in Joliet and went on to graduate from Silver Cross Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1968. Karen then became a Registered Nurse at Silver Cross Hospital, Sunny Hill Nursing Home and Meridian Medical Associates. Karen was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Some of her greatest joys included spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Karen enjoyed traveling and had a special love for everything Disney. She was the rock of the family and loved getting everyone together and taking care of them. Karen had an open heart and open door to everyone she knew. She touched so many lives with her deepened sense of care and compassion and will be truly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the nurses and doctors who provided compassionate care to Karen and her family.

Donations in Karen’s name to St. Jude Shrine, 512 W Saratoga St, Baltimore, MD 21201 would be appreciated.

A celebration of Karen’s life will begin on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2-8 p.m.
