Juliana G. Torres (nee Garcia), age 83, entered the kingdom of heaven on Monday, May 13, 2013.
Juliana is survived by her husband of 66 years Manuel; her daughters Gloria (Thomas) Torres-Mauet, Estela Torres, Sylvia Torres and Martha Torres (Kevin) Wilde; her sons Robert and Victor Torres; grandchildren Gregory Torres, Mario Aguilera III, Capt. Marcos Aguilera USMC, Lt. Alejandro Aguilera USMC, Kristina Huston, Jessica Simons and Laura Wilde; three great-grandchildren Abby, Dylan and Isabella Huston; sisters Josefina and Delfina.
Preceded in death by her parents Secundino and Crecencia (nee Cortez) Garcia; siblings Manuel, Isidro, Cruz, Lupe, Vicenta and Donaciana.
Juliana was born in Loraine, Texas. She and her husband moved to Joliet in 1951 where they raised their six children. Juliana was a devoted member of Assembleas de Dios Church. She loved reading the Bible, singing, making tamales and going to garage sales. Her happiest times were with family, especially with her grandchildren. She loved traveling to Texas, Arizona and Wyoming to see family members. One of her last trips and proudest moments was to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD in 2009 to see her grandson Alex receive his college diploma and Naval commission from President Barack Obama. If anyone has earned her place in heaven it is our mother Juliana. We thank you, we celebrate you and we know that youA�??ll watch over us until we're together again.
A Celebration of JulianaA�??s life will begin on Friday, May 17, 2013 with a chapel service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 16, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet.
