Julia L. Branchaw, age 87, late of Mokena, died at home with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, February 2, 2011.
She is survived by her daughters, Ramona Branchaw, of Mokena, and Renee (Stephen) Tatroe, of Afton, MN; 5 grandchildren, Karyn Tejan, Sonia (Jeff) Eberspacher, Stefan (Beth) Tatroe, Kalyssa Tatroe, and Chrisanna Tatroe; and 5 great-grandsons, Andrew Eveland, Alex, Sam, and Ben Eberspacher, and Braden Tatroe. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret (late Joseph) Midlock, her twin sister Bertha (late Andrew) Sari, and Frances (late Al) Wroblewski; and her in-laws, Leonard (Liz) Branchaw and Marcy (late John) Autero
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (1992); her parents, John and Barbara (nee Maycher) Hornicak; and her brothers and sisters, Ann (late George) Dancisak, Sophie Hornicak, Mary Hornicak, Helen (late Larry) Crichton, Rose (late John) Adams, John, in infancy, Joseph (Audrey) Hornicak, and Richard (Pat) Hornicak .
Julia was born in Joliet and lived on the Eastside until moving to Mokena 26 years ago. She was a longtime member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, and a member of Senior Citizens Association. She had been employed by Grant"s Hardware for many years until her retirement in 1993. She loved to go to the theater, travelling, gambling, laughing, and enjoying a glass of wine.
A Celebration of Julia"s Life will take place on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 10 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, Mokena. She will lie-in-state at church from 9:30 AM until Mass. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum, Romeoville.
