Josephine M. Gregorash

Josephine M. Gregorash (nee Podobnik), age 92, at rest on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home. Born in Joliet on March 18, 1922 to the late Jacob and Katherine (nee Kufner) Podobnik, she remained a lifelong Joliet resident.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, John "Yack" Gregorash; brothers, Robert, Anthony and Rudolph Podobnik; sisters, Mary Podobnik, Catherine (George) Turk, Frances (Frank) Legan, and Pauline (Nick) Chorak.

Survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Joleen (William) Morrow; one sister, Dorothy (the late Don) Hiller; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Josephine was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and worked for a number of years at the American Can Company in Rockdale. She enjoyed her career there and retired when she started a family. She often spoke and shared stories about the great times she had while working and the wonderful friendships she made during her years there. Josephine was an excellent baker and was often asked to make her special potica for holidays and other family events. She was a lover of music, particularly live music, which in later years brought her great joy. Josephine was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Nativity Church in Joliet where she was active in the Mother's Club. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Cantigny Post #367.

A celebration of Josephine's life will begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill.
