Josephine "Pina" Barron (nee Mirelez) age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on, Wednesday, September 30, 2014.
Josephine is survived by her loving and caring daughter, Linda (the late Pedro) Rodriguez; one grandson, Rene (Felicia Salinas) Rodriguez; one great-granddaughter, Liliana Paloma; sisters, Mary "Lucy" Esquivel, Maria Chadwick of Whittier, CA; brother, Raymond Mirelez; sister-in-law, Arlene (the late Fred) Mirelez; Her special nieces that were like daughters to her, Sylvia Esquivel, Gloria (James) Coyl and Lisa (Edgar) Gonzalez; and special nephew, Oscar Esquivel. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Adolph Barron, two sons in infancy; parents, Cleofus and Maria (nee Leon) Mirelez; brothers, Jeronimo "Jerry" (Hope) Mirelez and Alfredo "Fred" Mirelez.
Josephine was born and raised in Pittsburg, OK where she met her beloved husband Adolph. She later moved to Minneapolis, MN in the early 50's where she was employed at Beamus Bag Company for several years. Josephine then moved to Joliet in 1963 where she worked at Titan Company in Lockport, IL for a few years. What brought Josephine the most joy and happiness was being a wonderful mother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and clothing for her family. Pina was also a great cook, being famous for her "Oklahoma Tacos." Josephine loved music, loved to dance and had a quick witted sense of humor that made everyone laugh. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A special thank you to care givers, Mariana Perez and Lisa Medina; Dr. Chawla, Dr. Kisel, Dr. Freeman and their staff for all of the care and compassion that they had for my mother for many years; thank you to the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for all of the comfort and care provided to my mom.
A celebration of Josephine's life will begin on Saturday, October 4, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 205 East Jackson Street Joliet, IL for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 3-7 pm.
