Age 88. Of Joliet, died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Wayfair Nursing Home in Fairfield, IL.
Preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John Bakos and Raymond Bakos.
Survivors include two nieces, Laura (Scott) Osburn of Stockbridge, MI and Kimberly (Scott) Robinson of Antioch, CA, two nephews, Kevin (Michelle) Bakos of Cairo, IL and Alan (Susan) Bakos of Nevis, West Indies; five great-nieces, Jennifer Osburn and Christina Osburn of Stockbridge, MI, Alli Robinson, Amber Robinson, Taylor Robinson of Antioch, CA; two great-nephews, Scott Osburn Jr. of Stockbridge, MI and Jordan Bakos of Nevis, West Indies; two step-great-nieces, Emily Corry and Kelsey Frayser of Cairo, IL, a step-great-nephew Erik Frayser of Cairo, IL, one sister-in-law, Berlene Bakos of Wayne City, IL. Several cousins also survive.
Born on March 12, 1919 in Joliet, she was the daughter of John and Sophia (Slachta) Bakos. She was never married. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, where she helped with the many bazaars and pancake breakfasts.
She was a Veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the U.S. Women's Army Corps in January 1945, and serving until November, 1946.
She was retired from Marshall Field's in Chicago after serving 35 years in sales.
Funeral services for Josephine Bakos will be Wednesday, April 11, 11 a.m. from Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd. to St. Bernard's Church for 11:30 Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be two hours before services. Interment SS. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.
For those who wish memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
