Joseph Wolf
“Chach”
Age 91 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2022 with his family by his side.
Born March 16, 1930 in Joliet, Joseph was a son of Anton and Mary (Mufich) Wolf. He was raised and educated in Joliet and attended Joliet Catholic High School. Following High School, Joseph enlisted and proudly served in the 505 Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. On June 13, 1953 Joseph married the love of his life, Cecilia Gecan at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet and together they made a home and raised their daughter Marianne.
Chach was the proud owner of Wolf’s Tavern in Joliet and was active in many organizations and groups. He served as past president of the Joliet Croatian Cultural Club, was a member of the Slovenian Union of America Branch 20, a lifelong member of the Joliet Rivals Club, and longtime member of the Polka Masters. Chach was also heavily involved in fund-raising throughout the community. If there was an event around town you could depend on Chach and his brother Tony to be there with their button-boxes entertaining the masses and earning donations for whatever the cause was. If anyone needed anything, they would look to Joseph and Joseph always said “Yes”. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his daughter: Marianne (Jonas) Wolf-Astrauskas; granddaughter: Gabija (Joseph) Rosenzweig; great-grandchildren: Hunter and James Rosenzweig; sister: Mary “Mitzi” (the late Ed) Kapsch; sisters-in-law: Evangeline Wolf, Charlotte (the late John) Brown and Mildred (the late Joseph) Pruss, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
