Joseph G. "Joe" Zelko

Joseph G. “Joe” Zelko, age 49, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 after a courageous battle from Neuromyelitis Optica, with his loving wife by his side.

Joe is survived by his wife, Jill E. (nee Huebner) Zelko; daughters, Kayla and Casey Zelko; mother, Barbara A. (nee Coppedge) Zelko; siblings, John R. (Karen), Jr. and Frank “Pat” (Laurel) Zelko; father and mother-in-law, Karl and Paula Huebner; sisters-in-law, Lisa (fiance Steve Klaus) Reyes, Jamie (Matt) Holley, Stephenie (Brian) Fagan; nieces and nephews; Jennifer, John III (Amanda), Trent, Patrick, Heather, Brighid Zelko, Lexi and Augie Reyes, Bret and Amber Holley, Aly Fagan, two great nieces, one great nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and his canine boys, Loki and Lilo.

Preceded in death by his father, John R. “Rocky” Zelko.

Joe was a member of the IBEW Local #176. He graduated from Minooka High School, Class of 1987.

He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, working in his yard, always lending his help to others, even in his passing, continues by organ donation for research. Joe was an all-around great guy and will be greatly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Seasons Hospice, Naperville, P.A.W.S., D.A.V. or American Red Cross.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will begin on Saturday, April 21, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m., then processing to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood, IL for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt Carmel Cemetery in Morris, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
