Joseph J. Wallace, Jr.

Age 93 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home.

Born July 31, 1927 in Joliet, Joseph was the son of Joseph, Sr. and Veronica (Coveny) Wallace. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School with the class of 1945. Following graduation, Joseph proudly served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. He was happily married to his beloved wife Doris for 68 years. After retiring from the banking industry he went on to work with his son for another thirty years at Tim Wallace Landscape Supply. Joseph will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his three children: Patricia (Jeffrey) Richards, Timothy Wallace and Terrence (Kimberly and son Brandon) Wallace; daughter-in-law: Christine Wallace; four grandchildren: Colleen (Matthew) Hindman and Ryan Wallace, and Joseph and John Richards, as well as three great-grandchildren: Maisy, Penny and Kitty Hindman.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Doris (Pohl) Wallace who passed on June 20, 2020; parents: Joseph, Sr. and Veronica, and his son: Joseph J. Wallace, III in 2014.

Per Joseph’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church followed by interment in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery where Joseph and Doris will be laid to rest together at a later date.
