Joseph A. Strmec
Age 92, at rest Friday February 12, 2010 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center.
Joseph was the loving father of Judith Marie Stockstill, and Joseph R. (Gayle) Strmec; dearest grandfather of Jeffrey, Matthew (Anne) and Jennifer Stockstill, He is also survived by one sister, Dorothy (late Stephen) Vombrack, and by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine (nee Ivnik) Strmec; his parents Anton and Barbara (nee Muc) Strmec; one sister Mary O"Connell; and two brothers Anton and Edward Strmec.
Joseph was born in Joliet and resided in Lockport since 1954. He was retired from US Steel after 38 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Army Signal Corp; a member of Lockport VFW #5788; and KSKJ. In lieu of flowers donations in his name to the American Humane Society would be appreciated.
The Family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Angels nursing home for the excellent care and friendship extended during his stay.
A celebration of Joseph"s life will begin with prayer services at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15, then will proceed to St. Joseph Church, Lockport for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Joliet. Visitation Tuesday from 4 to 8PM at Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life.
