Joseph R. Starasinic

Joseph R. Starasinic "Joe," age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary (nee Green) Starasinic; Children, Carol (Daniel) Rohr of FL, Patricia (Gordie Jr.) Gillespie of Joliet, and Michael (Judy) Starasinic of Chesterton, IN; granddaughter, Laura Gillespie; one brother, Leonard (Janet) Starasinic of TX; sister-in-law, Loretta (the late Louis) Starasinic; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara (nee Brodaric) Starasinic; siblings, John (Dorothy) Starasinic, Helen (John) Benac, Anton Starasinic, Edward Starasinic, Barbara (Robert) Smrekar, Josephine (Edwin) St. Germain and Margaret (William) Norton.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Joliet. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Joliet Township High School with Honors. Joseph was a proud United States Army Veteran, 25th Infantry Division, serving in the Korean War. He retired from Caterpillar in Joliet after 37 years of dedicated service and became a member of the Joliet Caterpillar Retiree's Club. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and the family handyman. Joe loved spending time with his family and especially his dear granddaughter, Laura. He also enjoyed family vacations and road trips with his beloved wife. Joe will be truly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Joliet Cancer Care Center and the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home for the compassion and care extended to Joe and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Joseph's life will begin on Friday, June 19, 2015 with a visitation in the funeral home chapel from 8-9 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 9:30 a.m. Fr. Jim Lennon officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held privately. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3-7 p.m.
