Joseph M. Petrosko Sr.
Age 94. At rest peacefully on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at Glenbrook Hospital with his family by his side. Joseph was born in Joliet, and was a lifelong Joliet and Manhattan area resident. Joseph graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1934. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Joseph retired in 1984 from Champion Machinery Co. after over 20 years of service. A life member of the American Legion Harwood Post #5. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Joseph was a parishioner of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church for over 90 years. He was an avid reader, gardener, and loved to pick fresh mushrooms. Joseph was also a devoted Chicago Cubs Fan.
Survived by his loving children; Joseph M. Petrosko Jr., Daniel F. (Alberta) Petrosko, and Mary (Rick) Gretz; 4 grandchildren, Dan, Emily and Mary Petrosko, and Katie (Ryan) Linnell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Mary (nee Orenic) Petrosko.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Petrosko Sr. will be celebrated Friday November 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Interment will be at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery.
