Age 90, at rest, Thursday, September 25, 2008 At Murray-Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY, with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side. Loving father of Joseph J. (Janine), Bernard, Mark (Mary Beth), Katherine (Ken) Kleinhoffer. Dear grandfather of Ellen (Christopher) Peterson, Erin Petric Hanson, Bobbi (Matt) Pehle, Martin, Kelly and Kerri Petric. Dearest great-grandfather of Matthew and Andrew Peterson and Owen Pehle. One sister, Mary Gregorich of Crest Hill, IL. one sister-in-law, Polly Petric of Fontana, Ca. two brothers-in-law, Damian (Barb) Imparl of Chicago, Il. Albert (Jane) Imparl of Crest Hill, IL. and several nieces and nephews also survive. He is also survived by his faithful companion, Raven. He was preceded by his wife Helen (nee) Imparl (1992) and his brother, John Petric (July 30, 2008), his parents John and Katarina Petric, and his step-father, John Videtich. Joseph was born April 2, 1918, in Ravnace, Austria, which is now Slovenia. He resided in Joliet from 1931 until he moved in 2002 to New Concord, Ky, where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Kate and Ken. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army, 76th Medical Battalion, 6th Armored Division, 3rd Army, in the European Theater. He retired from the G. M.& O./I.C.G. Railroad after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Holy Family Society, Cantigny Post VFW #367, a lifetime member of the G.M.& O. Railway Historical Society, member of the American Slovenian Home, former Cub Master, Pack #86, St. Joseph School, and a former choir member at St. Joseph's Church. Joe loved gardening, dancing at the Slovenian Home and being surrounded by his family, friends and puppy dogs. He touched our lives in a special way and will be sorely missed. Contributions to Cantigny Post VFW #367, Joliet, Illinois, Immaculate Conception School, Morris, Illinois or the Calloway County Fire Rescue, Murray Ky. would be appreciated.
From where services will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 9:30 AM to St. Joseph Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 PM.
