Joseph M. Orenic ""Poppy Joe"" Age 73
Went to sleep in the Lord on November 19, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his cherished and loving wife, Janet (Szafran) (Nee Milkereit) Orenic; Devoted daughter, Denise (Richard) Shroba; grandson, Eric (Maureen) Shroba; ; brother, Dr. Raymond G. (Colleen) Orenic; stepchildren, John Szafran, Julie (Paul) Just; stepgrandchildren, Briana Szafran, Bradley, Jonathan, Allison and Olivia Just; and numerous nieces and nephews, his dog Abby and cats Freddy and L.C. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Soley) Orenic, a brother, John Joseph in infancy, and grandson Scott Allen Shroba.
Joe was born on July 19, 1936. He graduated from Joliet Catholic High, class of 54, attended Lewis University, and served 3 years in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic. He retired in March of 2000 with over 37 years of service as a maintenance technician and crew chief with North Central/Republic/Northwest Airlines.
After retiring, he and his wife relocated to Legend Lake in Keshena, Wisconsin to enjoy fishing, boating, and the quietude of the North Woods.
Joe was a member of Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church in Homer Glen, IL and St. Michael Church in Keshena, WI, was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus Council 12185, Keshena, American Legion Post 497 Keshena, a former member for many years of the Moose Lodge #300 Joliet, an E.A.A. member, and a volunteer at St. Michael"s Church Food Pantry.
Before Joe left for the journey with his Lord, he wanted to thank all the wonderful family, friends and neighbors who offered their help and prayers though his trying times. Also all His great friends at St. Michael"s who offered their prayers, especially Fr. Bob, Fr. Dave and Sister Mary. He also wanted to thank Dr. D. King, Dr. Campbell and their staffs at Froedtert Medical Center in Milwaukee, and doctors Cooley, Ryan, Schmidt, and their staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Joliet Catholic Academy, Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church in Homer Glen, IL, St. Michael"s Church Food Pantry in Keshena, WI, or the organization of your choice.
A special thank you goes out to his brother, Dr. Raymond Orenic and the wonderful staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home who gave so much of themselves to help Joe make a dignified and peaceful transition into our Lord"s loving arms.

From were services will be held Monday November 23, at 9:45 AM to Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church in Homer Glen, IL for Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 Parastas Service 7:00 PM Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery
