Joseph G. Lopykinski, age 82, passed away on December 25, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rosemary Lopykinski; children, Jo Ann Lopykinski, Joseph (Susan) Lopykinski, Tony (Krista) Lopykinski, David (Kelly) Lopykinski, Mary Ann (Paul) Reider, and Michael (Katie) Lopykinski; grandchildren, Amanda, Ethan, Owen, Grace, Kathleen, and Finnley Lopykinski and Andrew and Ella Reider; sister, Rosemary (Richard) Kuehner; niece, Denise (Donald) Seeman; and aunt, Elizabeth Gregorash. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Mary Lopykinski; and sister, Mary Lopykinski in infancy.
Joseph owned and operated Joseph Lopykinski Builders and Twin Construction Company Inc. and was a member of Carpenters Local 174 for over 60 years. He took great pride in his carpentry work.
He was a lifelong Crest Hill resident and served as a past Alderman and Director of Public Works for the City of Crest Hill.
Joseph enjoyed fishing, wine making, woodworking, watching the Cubs, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Anne’s Church, the Croatian Cultural Club, St. Joe’s Park Seniors Group, and St. Joseph Holy Name Society.
A celebration of Joseph’s life will begin on Saturday, December 30, 2017 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery in Crest Hill. Visitation will be on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.
