Joe was born on March 9, 1921 to the late Michael and Sophie Kozak and entered the presence of God on January 7, 2008. He was born and raised in Lockport, honorably served as a member of the United States Coast Guard and was an employee of US Steel for 30 years.
On one magical day, his life touched that of Anne Chaloka with whom he fell in love and God ignited that spirit of love with their marriage on June 29, 1946. They were married 29 years before he lost his love to cancer. Joe was a devoted father to Debbie (Ted), May, and Larry (Jackie) Kozak, who adored and cherished him. Joe again found love in that of Fran Slaboszewski ( Hucul). They were also married for 29 years when Fran suddenly passed away last March.
He was a brother to Michael (Margaret), Nicholas (Mary), William (Josephine), Andrew (Helen), Helen (Anthony) Senffner and Anna (George) Pestrak. He was a stepfather to Kathy (Mike) Auman, Sue Koizumi, Dyan (Kenny) St. Romain, and Trish (Mike) Blacklock. He was a devoted grandfather to Heather, Chelsea, Sarah( Donnie) Ladas, Christopher ( Amy) Kozak , and Erica( Jeff) Jaunich, and numerous nephews nieces and cousins.
Joe will be remembered for touching the hearts of many by his cheerfulness, willingness to help anyone in need and for the love and joy of his family. He was always concerned with providing the best experiences , opportunities and blessings for his family. He enjoyed cooking and fishing but gardening was his passion. Smell the roses Daddy!
