The most important event of Joseph’s life was receiving the sacrament of first communion at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale, IL.
After graduation from St. Procopius High School (now Benet Academy), Joseph proudly served in the United States Army with the 173rd Airborne (paratrooper) and the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He reached the rank of Sergeant. After being honorably discharged, he was employed by numerous AT&T companies, which led to relocations all over the United States and Iran. Joseph earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Northwestern University. Additionally, he also attended, at the request of AT&T, Purdue University, Penn State University and Indiana University.
Following successful prostate cancer surgery, he served as a volunteer with Us Too International for 15 years in order to help others suffering from the same disease. In his free time, Joe enjoyed skydiving, fishing, and target shooting. He belonged to many organizations, including The Knights of Columbus, Good Shepherd Council 5573, Plainfield (4th degree), Moose International, Northwestern Alumni, the National Rifle Association and numerous veteran’s groups.
