Josefina Meza

Josefina Meza, age 82 of Joliet, passed away at Adventist Hospital in Bolingbrook on November 20, 2024. She was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco in Mexico on March 19, 1942 to her parents Francisco Ramirez and Eustolia Ruiz.

Josefina met and married, the great love of her life, Oscar Meza. Together, the two of them raised a big, beautiful family in Chicago before settling in Joliet. Oscar and Josefina were completely dedicated to each other throughout their lives. While Oscar feels lost without her, he does have the strength and support of his family to lean on during this most difficult time. Their son and three daughters consider their mom to be the pillar of their family. Her strength and compassion allowed them to flourish in life, and they will be forever grateful to her for all that she provided. Josefina was a dedicated and trusted employee of Tootsie Roll manufacturing for thirty-nine years. She has been a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and mother-in-law, and she will always be their guiding light forever loved by all.

Josefina was preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Eustolia.

She is survived by her loving husband Oscar Meza, her daughters Jessica (Perfecto) Carrillo, Lisa (Nicolas) Saldaña, Josie (Jose) Espino, her son Tito, as well as seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL 60435. All guests will be invited to regather at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life at 9:00 am on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 for closing prayers. We will then travel in procession to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 404 N. Hickory St, Joliet, IL for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Immediately following mass, we will process to Josefina’s final resting place at Resurrection Cemetery, 200 W. Romeo Rd. Romeoville, IL for a graveside committal service and interment.
