Jose R. Martinez, age 74, at rest on Sunday, July 10, 2016 with his loving family by his side.
Jose is survived by his loving children, Hector (Gloria) Martinez, Ernesto (Lourdes) Martinez, Magdalena (Rodrigo) Zavala, Dolores (Miguel) Martinez, Luis (Rosalba) Martinez, Jose Manuel (Renelle) Martinez, Ofelia (Marcos) Cuevas, Teresa Martinez, Angelica (Raul Maldonado) Martinez, Jesus (Erica Villagomez) Martinez; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Fortunato (Victoria) Martinez, Juan (Eufracia) Martinez, Juana (Jesus) Martinez and Guadalupe Martinez; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Teresa Martinez (1981); parents, Natividad and Aurora Martinez; siblings, Raymundo, Inez and Artemia Martinez; 2 granddaughters, Jenny G. Martinez and Jessica L. Cisneros; and 2 nephews, Juan G. Martinez and Angel G. Martinez.
Jose was born in San Isidro, Mexico. He was a longtime resident of Joliet and a Parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Joliet. Jose loved to be outdoors, gardening, tending to his flowers and having everyone come together for cookouts at his home. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and never made an enemy. Jose also enjoyed dressing up, being on time and keeping his vehicles clean and in great shape. Jose never complained; he had a big heart and was loved by all who knew him.
A celebration of Jose’s life will begin on Friday, July 15, 2016 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Jackson Street) in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
