John Peter Zizzo, 77, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024.
John was born on July 18, 1947 in Chicago, IL to his late parents, John “Torpedo” and Catherine (nee Ponticelli) Zizzo. John was known for his strong love for his family, old cars, car shows, sports and casinos.
John is survived by his three loving daughters: Katherine (the late August) Granzig of Waterloo, WI., Maureen (Giuseppe) Morsello of Lisle, IL. and Michele (Cristobal) Rodriguez III of Gardner, IL; his beloved grandchildren: Thomas DiForti, Manuel Rodriguez, Nancy (Chance) Roy, Cristobal (Justine) Rodriguez IV, AJ Granzig and Samantha Morsello; great granddaughters: Ava, Evelyn and Aurelia; two sisters: Rosalie (the late Tony) Gallo and Marie Zizzo; sister-in-law, Wanda Zizzo, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his faithful companion, Wolf (Wolfie) who will always share a very special place in his heart.
John was preceded in death by his father, John “Torpedo” Zizzo; mother, Catherine (nee Ponticelli) Zizzo; brother, Joseph Zizzo; sisters: Josephine Zizzo, Jeanette (the late Roy) Holt, Julia (the late Robert) Yanke, and Catherine (the late John) O’Mahony.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tezak's Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL with a sharing of memories to occur at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM at The Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N Raynor Ave, Joliet, IL. with burial to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL where John will be laid to rest with honors. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 8:30 AM before departing to the church.
