August 30, 1959 — March 4, 2022

John Bernard Vogrin, age 62, at rest on Friday, March 4, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

John is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jeanette (nee Schoech) Vogrin; children, Melissa (Bret) Onderisin, Nicole Vogrin, Becky (fiancé Ryan Abernathy) Vogrin; granddaughter, Leah Onderisin; siblings, Cathy (Vago) Galounis, Patti (Bob) Edwards, Lori (Ken) Krumreich and Jim (Ann) Vogrin; brothers-in-law, Phil (the late Rita Sweeney) Schoech and Tom Schoech; sister-in-law, Angela (Tom) Coward; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his furry companions, especially his dog Huck.

Preceded in death by his parents, John Leo and Mary (nee Wertzler) Vogrin.

John was a proud and respected member of the Carpenters Union Local #174, retiring in 2009. A former business agent, a delegate to the district council and an officer of the Local #174, John’s pride for his union was evident. John always put his family first. He always made it known that they were the most important part of his life. He was his daughters’ number one fan and cherished his time spent coaching softball and attending all of their events and activities. John greatly enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, boating on the Kankakee River and spending time in the great outdoors. John had a great impact on all of his family and friends; he will truly be missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Perinars and the brotherhood of his carpenter family for all of the care and support given to John. Thank you to the Visiting Angels and the Autumn Country Club, especially his friend Jackie.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
