Age 88, at rest Wednesday January 10, 2008 at Provena Villa Franciscan with his family and friends by his side. Born in Joliet, graduate of St. Mary Nativity Grade School and Joliet Township High School. Veteran of the U.S. Army WWII. Retired from Commonwealth Edison in 1979. Former President of the Joannites, President of Senior Citizens Association, Member of VFW Cantigny Post #367.
Survived by his loving wife of 61 years Cele (Nee Jandura), Daughter Marcia (Bill) Fitzgerald. Granddaughters Kris (Shaun) Toborg of Joliet, Kari Fitzgerald of Chicago. Two great- grandsons Max and Ben Toborg. Two sisters Mary Picha and Katherine Hochevar, brother Gus Tomac, sister in law Pat Tomac, brother in law Pete Maryanovich. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by parents John L. Sr. and Catherine (nee Seffner) Tomac, three sisters Sophie Link Callahan, Jean Rubocki, Steffie Maryanovich, two brothers Andy and Tom Tomac.
In lieu of flowers contributions to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Senior Services Center Meals on Wheels Program would be appreciated.

From where funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM to St. Mary Nativity Church For a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 10 AM. Interment will be at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 7 PM.
