John J. Ramirez, Sr.
Age 80, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Fairview Care Center, Joliet. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Adeline (nee Lopez), children Tammy (Michael) Vidican, Lori (Aaron) Aversa, John (Lori) Ramirez Jr., grandchildren David Vidican, Michael Maher, Aaron and John Aversa, Nicole and Dana Ramirez, and Sky Rys. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph (Vera) Ramirez and Raymond Ramirez, his sisters Marie (Felix) Moreno, Angie (Mike) Garcia, Lupe (Mark) Lesa, and Mary Ramirez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Librada (nee Rodriquez) Ramirez, and his brothers Paul, Richard, Roman, Jesse, and Howard (late Vivian) Ramirez.
He was employed at US Steel, retiring in 1996 after 42 years of service. John graduated from Joliet Catholic High School, and was a lifelong resident of Joliet. He served in the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports, and was an avid NY Yankees fan.
A Celebration of John"s Life will be held this Friday, May 27 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Private inurnment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, at a later date. Visitation will be this Thursday from 4 ""A�?? 8 PM.
