John R. Oblak

May 28, 1922 — March 9, 2013

John Oblak, age 90, entered eternal life peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 with his loving family by his side.

He is survived by his beloved fiancA�AC. of 49 years, Joan Reeves; one brother Andrew Oblak; two special nephews Ronald (Barbara) Egizio and Raymond (fiancA�AC. Kathy) Egizio; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Theresa (nee Hren) Oblak; one sister Delores Egizio Ambrose; one brother-in-law Guido Egizio; one nephew Andrew A�??ButchA�?i�� Oblak Jr.

John was a devoted caretaker to his beloved cat Morris. He was proud of his rich Slovenian heritage and was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a 1937 graduate of St. Joseph Grade School. John was an avid kitten and 16A�?i�� softball player and was a devoted New York Yankees fan. He was a member of the St. Joseph Holy Name Society, KSKJ, West Side Knights of Columbus, Ingalls Park A.C., Northwest A.C., and the East Side A.C. John was employed at GAF formally known as Ruberoid for 39 years.

Joan would like to offer a special prayer to Ken and Nancy Shepherd and Ken and Donna Hrusosky for watching over us.

The family would like to offer a heart filled thank you to Our Lady of Angels and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their spiritual compassion and excellent care given to John during his illness.

Memorials in JohnA�??s name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Joliet Area Community Hospice, or Our Lady of Angels.

A Celebration of JohnA�??s life will begin on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. with prayers at the funeral home chapel, and then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life. The St. Joseph Holy Name Society will meet at the funeral home at 4:00 p.m.
