Age 89 at rest Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at the Provena St. Joseph Medical Center after a long illness. Beloved father of Virginia C. (Richard C.) DuVal and Maryann (Wilbur Jr.) Brookman; dearest grandfather of Lorraine (Scott) Offerman and James Brookman; two great-grandsons, Anthony & Jason Offerman also surviving numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (nee Svetlecic) Jahneke (Married September 29, 1939 at rest January 16, 1998); his parents, Theodore and Helena (nee Mangelson) Jahneke; four sisters, Laura Verpooten, Katherine Kent, Lavena Gotschika and Matilda Bormet; two brothers, Leonard and Floyd Jahneke. John was born June 5, 1917 in Enid, Oklahoma resident of the Joliet and Crest Hill area for most of his lifetime. Retired from U.S. Steel in 1978.
