John R. Hoerner “Jack,” age 97, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Joliet Area Community Hospice. He was born in Joliet on October 30, 1923 to the late George and Alice (nee Blaney) Hoerner.
John was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of WW II. He served as a radio operator on a B17 and received 6 Bronze Stars. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale.
John is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Nora (nee DeLuca); three sons, Robert (Betty) Hoerner, Thomas (Donna) Hoerner and Timothy (Suzanne) Hoerner; two granddaughters, Angela (Kenneth) Florman and Jade Hoerner; two great-grandchildren, Graham and Clementine Florman; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Louise (Edward) Futterer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appricated.
Per John’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. He will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at a later date.
