John R. Hobart

John R. Hobart, age 74, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in his home with his loving wife by his side.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Christine (nee Evans) Hobart; daughter, Rebecca Deang; grandchildren, Jocelyn and Brandon Deang; brother, Richard Fitzgerald; and loyal friends, John Duffy and John Terry.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Monica Hobart.

John was raised by a family of farmers and later moved to Wisconsin to farm. He returned to Illinois where he began his career in 1978 for the Department of Corrections until 2002. John enjoyed throwing parties for the holidays and any special event.  He would always invite his colleagues over for a good time, and would take the younger officers under his wing.  He was a good husband, dad and grandpa who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of John’s Life will began on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso, Illinois at 12:00 p.m.
